Pacific Resort Hotel Group (PRHG) is partnering with the Cook Island Golf Association in a sponsorship deal that will bring over $8,000 in prizes to the first ever Pacific Resort Hotel Group Golf Tournament in Rarotonga. This event sponsorship is part of PRHG’s ongoing commitment to support and develop local talent through backing events within the community.
With PRHG responsible for providing the tournament prizes, the 2014 golfing event is certainly shaping up to become a highlight on the 2014 golfing calendar - attracting some of the club’s most talented members. The tournament will take place at the Rarotonga Golf Course on 24th May 2014 with the winner walking away with two night’s accommodation at the award-winning, five-star Pacific Resort Aitutaki, valued at over $3,000.
Announcing the new sponsorship agreement, PRHG CEO Greg Stanaway said they were delighted to be working in partnership with Cook Islands Golf Association, “It is so very important for PRHG to be supporting the local community with sporting sponsorships such as this. It provides young and experienced local golfers an opportunity to showcase their talent in the build up to what will be a busy golfing calendar in 2014. We are pleased to be involved with the Cook Islands Golf Association and hope this is only the beginning of many years of partnership.”
The three best golfers of the day will not be the only ones to claim prizes. A one night accommodation package at Pacific Resort Rarotonga will also be awarded to one ‘lucky draw winner’, while 4th to 10th place receivers will also be rewarded for their efforts. There are also a variety of other prizes up for grabs for those who get nearest to the pins, have the best rounds of the day or those with the longest drive of the tournament
While this is the first time PRHG has sponsored a golfing tournament, they are certainly no stranger to supporting the local sporting community. Earlier this year PRHG provided the Aitutaki Golf Club with a generous donation towards improvements at the local golf course. Furthermore in 2013 PRHG provided talented local sportsman ‘Leonard Roa’ with a generous helping hand towards his development, education and studies in New Zealand.
PRHG have been long-standing supporters of their local village rugby teams the ‘Ngatangiia Sea Eagles’ and ‘Aitutaki Sharks’ and as well as being official sponsors of elite Vaka paddler, Reuben Dearlove. In 2013, PRHG reached their landmark ten-year sponsorship with Vaka Eiva, the popular international regatta, and has just signed off on a new sponsorship deal for the 2014 event.
PRHG will continue to actively engage with the community and endeavor to create new partnerships with a variety of local groups. It is hoped this year’s ‘Pacific Resort Hotel Group Golf Tournament’ will be a success, and will see many more events like this one added to the community event calendar over many years to come.
