HM Awards Recognise Pacific Resort Hotel Group
Pacific Resort Hotel Group is pleased to announce their placement as finalists in two major award categories at the 2012 prestigious HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence. This recognition is hot on the heels of recently announced NZ Travel Industry Awards where PRHG is a finalist for the Best Hotel/Resort Group as well their properties Pacific Resort Rarotonga and Pacific Resort Aitutaki being finalists for their own awards in the Best International Hotel / Resort Category.
Julian Moore General Manager of Pacific Resort Aitutaki is a finalist for the much coveted South Pacific General Manager of the year award alongside highly regarded individuals such as Dominique Michaud, Starwood Hotels New Caledonia, Michael Monks, Shangri La’s Fijian Resort & Spa and Shane Cunning from Sheraton Fiji Resort. This is the second year that Julian is a finalist after receiving this award in 2011. It is also the third consecutive year that a General Manager from Pacific Resort Aitutaki will be up for this particular award with previous GM Michael Shah being awarded South Pacific General Manager in 2010.
Julian Moore has held the position of General Manager at Pacific Resort Aitutaki since February 2011 bringing to the role over 25 years of luxury Hotel and Resort experience including boutique resorts on remote islands in the Maldives and a Desert Location in Uluru in outback Australia. During his time at Pacific Resort Aitutaki Julian has implemented a number of new environmental and cultural initiatives. Some examples of which are the official inclusion of Aitutaki, Cook Islands as part of EarthHour 2012, the introduction of the Cook Islands first self guided Aquatic eco-Trail, the establishment of ‘conversations with a cook islander” (a series of interactive sessions between staff and guests, sharing share key elements of Cook Islands life and their relevance in the past and present) and increasing the focus of the resort on developing more local fruit and vegetable producers to the resort as well as growing more produce on the resort premises.
Pacific Resort Hotel Group other properties were also named Finalists in the 2012 HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence, with Te Manava Luxury Villas & Spa named region finalists alongside Pacific Resort Aitutaki in the “South Pacific Property of the Year”. Other hotels competing in this category include Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa (French Polynesia), Le Meridien ll des Pins (New Caledonia) and Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach & Private Island (French Polynesia).
The HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence is celebrating their 10th year as the leading awards for the accommodation industry in the region. In the last nine years, almost 4300 people have attended the HM Awards and more than 350 awards have been awarded to hotels across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. The HM Awards are annually hosted by leading industry magazine HM - Hotel & Accommodation Management. Winners were announced at a packed out gala dinner of top industry leaders on the 7th of September in Sydney.
