Pacific Resort Aitutaki best GM in the South Pacific second year running
Pacific Resort Hotel Group is celebrating this week with the announcement that Julian Moore, General Manager of Pacific Resort Aitutaki has won the South Pacific General Manager of the Year Award at the 2011 HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence. This is the second year in a row that the General Manager of Pacific Resort Aitutaki has taken out this coveted award, with previous General Manager Michael Shah winning this award in 2010.

Winners were announced at a packed out gala dinner of top industry leaders on the 2nd of September in Sydney. This accolade places Julian and Pacific Resort Aitutaki in formidable company along side the likes of top Fijian General Manager‟s from InterContinental, Vomo Island, and Shangri-La Fijian Resort and Spa as well as Vahine Island in French Polynesia to name a few.
Julian Moore has held the position of General Manager at Pacific Resort Aitutaki since February 2011 bringing to the role over 25 years of luxury Hotel and Resort experience including boutique resorts on remote islands in the Maldives and a Desert Location in Uluru in outback Australia. During his time at Pacific Resort Aitutaki Julian has implemented a number of new environmental and cultural initiatives including Cook Islands first self guided Aquatic eco-Trail, introduction of „conversations with a cook islander” (a series of interactive sessions between staff and guests to share key elements of Cook Islands life and their relevance in the past and present)and increasing the focus of the resort on developing more local Fruit and vegetable producers to the resort.
Pacific Resort Hotel Group other properties were also named Finalists in the 2011 HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence, with Te Manava Luxury Villas & Spa named region finalists alongside Pacific Resort Aitutaki in the “South Pacific Property of the Year”, while Pacific Resort Rarotonga was acknowledged for its environmental initiatives as region finalist in the category “Environmental Program of the Year”. In 2010 Pacific Resort Rarotonga received the high distinction in the Best Environmental Program Award for Pacific Resort Rarotonga as well as South Pacific General Manager of the Year Award for Michael Shah from Pacific Resort Aitutaki.
The HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence are now into their 9th year and are the leading awards for the accommodation industry in the region. In the last eight years, almost 3600 people have attended the HM Awards and more than 400 awards have been awarded to hotels across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. The HM Awards are annually hosted by leading industry magazine HM - Hotel & Accommodation Management.
